  • The Calligraphic Call - A Meditative Arts Experience

    sana bella ebrahimJoin Sana-Bella for a mid-week 2-day Calligraphy workshop which will harness your creativity. The BRC will provide the ideal backdrop for bamboo and glass pen swirlings.

    This English Calligraphy course will cover the Italic, Uncial, and Gothic - Lucida Blackletter scripts. "The letter-form contours create a symphony on the page that is at once mesmerising, traditional and aesthetically elaborate," says Sana-Bella. "Participants will make an impression by advancing their skills in decorative handwriting. The process is meditative and self-affirming."     Sana-Bella Ebrahim is Senior Research Studies Lecturer at AFDA Durban. She has a Master of Social Science degree in Cultural and Media Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. In 2019 she was selected as a participant in the American Arts Incubator – South Africa at KZNSA Gallery, Durban and on International Artist Day 2020, she founded ArtScribes Global. This creative collective serves as a vehicle for the English and Arabic Calligraphy, and Art in the Park Workshops she facilitates. Two years later, she launched the ArtScribes Global publishing house – a collective which aspires for creative dreams and poetic arts to grow wings. Her collection of prose and poetry “Lockdown Lift-off” was launched recently at Ike’s Books and Collectables in Durban.

    Beatrice Kidd is a registered Social Worker and Clinical Transactional Analyst, Yoga and Meditation teacher and writer. She uses meditation and Clinical Integrative Psychotherapy to investigate the neutral, creative spaces between archaic insecurities and compulsions.
