Detailed List of Retreats

Birding at the Buddhist Retreat Centre is very rewarding. There are a variety of habitats, from grasslands and forests to wetlands and dams where more than 160 birds have been recorded - some very rare and endangered, like the exquisite Blue Swallow for which the Retreat Centre has been appointed a Custodian. In this retreat we will be given a short course in bird and bird-call identification, their interaction with their environment and their fascinating biology and behaviour. This will be followed by several walks in the countryside. We will do some meditative listening to bird calls during which we will learn to be still and receptive to whatever nature presents us with. Bring binoculars, a field guide and walking gear.
