Making The Practice Ordinary And The Ordinary, Practice: A meditation retreat
Teacher: Sister Candasiri
Cost: 5 days accommodation + R400 surcharge
Dates: Friday 11 December 2020 - Wednesday 16 December 2020
During this 5-day retreat, we will focus on ways to de-mystify Buddhist practice and to integrate it into the ordinariness of our daily lives. Having trained as a monastic for over forty years, Sister Candisiri will use the ceremonies of monastic life, adapted to suit the retreat context. Participants will be encouraged to join in to the extent they feel comfortable and to consider how the practice can be enhanced through simple rituals and integrated into every aspect of daily life. The retreat will be held in an atmosphere of introspection.

Sister Candasiri was born in Scotland in 1947 and after a full and interesting life she decided, in 1979, to enter the monastic community at Chithurst under the guidance of Ajahn Sumedho. She has lived in community since then, mostly at either Chithurst or at Amaravati Buddhist monasteries. Currently, she lives in Scotland in a small hermitage that has been established for nuns. The teachings on suffering and its ending and the Buddha's philosophy are what have inspired her along the trajectory of her life - and which continue to inspire her.
