Some record only what has happened to them; but others record how they happened to the universe - Henry David Thoreau
On this retreat we follow Wordsworth’s advice: "Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart." The word journal comes from Old French, day. A daily encounter with yourself. Journal echoes the word journey. So we become travellers of inner and outer regions, writing in our travelogues. Our guiding metaphor? A journal is a mirror, a window and a cameras lens. It reflects our realities, helps us focus and opens us to the world. "A journal does not simply record my actual life but rather offers an alternative to it." Susan Sontag
